The Tale of Fedot the Strelets, the Daring Fellow

June 8, 2014 marked the theatre’s first premiere — The Tale of Fedot the Strelets, the Daring Fellow, based on Leonid Filatov’s best-known poetic work.

This production became the starting point in the history of the Russian Amateur Drama Theatre in Kuala Lumpur.

The Tale of Fedot the Strelets, the Daring Fellow is Leonid Filatov’s witty fairy tale written in the spirit of the Russian folk stage tradition. It is a cheerful, sly, and sharp story about the simple archer Fedot, who proves wiser than the Tsar, stronger than court intrigues, and more honest than those in power.

The tale combines folk humour, satire, and a wise belief in the ingenuity, dignity, and justice of the ordinary person.
