Boeing-Boeing
Marc Camoletti
A play in two acts
Marc Camoletti’s comedy Boeing-Boeing, on which our performance How We Got Into This is based, is a light, fast-moving, and witty story about a man who is certain he has managed to organize his private life perfectly.
Bernard, a Parisian architect, lives — as he believes — flawlessly: he has not one but three fiancées, all flight attendants with different airlines. While one flies away, another arrives, and the third is somewhere between continents, airline schedules help Bernard maintain the appearance of complete order. Everything in his home obeys a precise timetable: meetings, lunches, rooms, menus, and even the mood of his long-suffering maid Bertha.
But once routes change, airplanes become faster, and an old friend, Robert, unexpectedly appears, the carefully calculated system begins to fall apart. Doors open at the wrong time, the fiancées return ahead of schedule, explanations become more and more incredible, and the self-confident master of the situation gradually becomes a hostage to his own “perfect” plan.
